hi all,

I've just acquired a 1971 Triumph Tiger 650.The tyres have plenty of tread but have gone hard and I want to replace them. It has a 19inch front wheel and an 18inch back which I believe to be the standard rims. I would appreciate any advice as to the best tyres to fit . I would like to keep the peroid look but at the same time I value my life and want to get something performs well. The forks appear to be in good order and rear shock absorbers may be ok but they are not origional.I thought I would get some Ikon replacements to suit .

Hi Lockymac,
Sounds like the rims are the correct ones . I think this model would have had Dunlop K70 or K81 tyres origionally fitted .
Both Dunlop or Avon Tyre companys have webs site and have good information
on tyres to suit classic bikes.
Here is the link
Good luck

The Avon roadrider is another option if your after a bit more performance. Better tyre with later technology I think. I guess it depends on personal choice and riding style.

I think that the Dunlop K81 TT100 look right on any of the British bikes around 1970's.
I have them on my Triumph and have had no problems.

Hi There ,
I have also used Cheng Shin tyres on avintage Kawasaki and Suzuki. They were ok and are a lot like a K 81 pattern . Also the price is very reasonable.
