Here is a worthwhile technical article on motorcycle electrical fault finding and how to perform electrical system diagnosis.

I found the logical approach outlined in this article particularly helpful when sorting out charging problems on faulty electrical systems. As with almost all electrical charging issues the problem can be corrected fairly quickly once the defect has been located. It really helps when you understanding how the charging system works.
